Who are the teachers?
Stevie Jamieson (he/him)
began practicing yoga in 2000, at the Sivananda Yoga Centre. After finally deciding to leave his desk behind and share his love of yoga, he trained as a power yoga teacher, studying advanced techniques and styles from Ashtanga, Power Vinyasa and Forrest Yoga.
Emma Horsfield (she/her) focuses on engaging different muscles to relieve tension, to leave everyone feeling super energised and less stressed.
Eric Ferreres (he/him) leads a strong yet playful power vinyasa class with an emphasis on breath-synchronised movement.
Philosophy
To create warm and welcoming spaces for powerful yoga practices, breathwork, movement & meditation. Teaching without judgement or prejudice, to challenge students, shift energy and calm minds. By raising people’s vibrations we aim to enrich the lives of our diverse community irrespective of ethnicity, sexuality or gender identity, class or religious beliefs with ripple effects online, through training, at events, on retreats and out into the universe.
What is POWER YOGA?
POWER YOGA is a style of yoga that flows between rhythm with the breath. It's a full body workout with planks and abdominal crunches to strengthen the core so be prepared to sweat! Each class is different and it's important to point out that our HOT YOGA classes (28C) are NOT Bikram (40C) which is typically one sequence repeated twice at.
'I always say to people coming to yoga for the first time, all you really need is a big heart and a big smile - just enjoy it! I'm a firm believer that yoga can help everyone, regardless of age, shape or ability and I strive to make my classes informal and friendly, where everyone feels comfortable to practice at their own level. My favourite quote at the moment is 'don't practice yoga to get better at yoga; practice yoga to get better at living.' That pretty much sums it up for me!'
- Stevie Jamieson
About the studio and before a class
Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the class starts as any latecomers may be disappointed. Yoga mats are available to hire although students are encouraged to bring their own mat if possible. We practice barefoot, please leave your shoes at the door where there is space for other belongings (please note belongings are left at your own risk).
How do I get the most out of my practice?
First of all, relax and breathe deep. Connect your conscious mind to your breath, to quieten those thoughts during your practice. Work within your own capabilities. Don't compete with anyone else in the room (or yourself)! We recommend that you practice at least twice a week for strengthening your immune system, whilst feeling a deeper connection to yourself and those around you, to find more connection and fulfilment within. There are props to assist you if required. If there's something you need then just talk to the teacher about it.
Can I practice with injuries?
It is the student’s responsibility to inform the teacher of any medical conditions, injuries or pregnancy before the start of any session. If you are new to physical exercise it is advisable that you consult a doctor or physician before attending.
How do I book a class?
To guarantee a space you need to book a class online and make payment in advance. It is possible to drop-in where space allows, on a first come first served basis.
